Walking into this internship I didn't have much business experience. Business always seemed cut-throat to me and I was unsure if I would be able to cope with and adapt to a new work environment. In short, I was nervous that I would be ineffective and unhappy.
It's safe to say that my experience here at Dwellworks has been the opposite of my fears. Every day here is enjoyable.
A great lesson I learned from this internship was taught to me by the enjoyment I get from being a part of the team here. That lesson is that I can be successful in a business environment and more importantly, be happy. Dwellworks is about so much more than the service it offers. It's about the people involved in the process. Here, I encountered a genuine concern for all, clients, suppliers, and associates alike. It was extremely refreshing to find this. My perception of the business world has been turned upside down by my experience here at Dwellworks, and this will surely aid me in the future as I aspire to effectively guide students as a school counselor.
Through my daily activities of uploading reports and following up with suppliers I learned to effectively communicate in a professional and efficient manner. I also gained a better grasp of what it means to be detailed oriented (which is something I desperately needed). I'm a big picture kind of guy, but through working with Valuation Services, I've learned how to take the necessary steps to move the small parts in order to make the big picture come together.
I've always considered myself a great teammate on the wrestling mat, but this internship has made me realize that I need to be more trusting of my teammates at work. Through working on projects such as the BPI roadmap and the internship experience video, I've realized that I don't need to drive myself into the ground in order to make things work. Instead, I can trust teammates to carry out many tasks effectively.
The most beneficial lesson I learned here at Dwellworks came from the LSI circumplex, which was a personality assessment of sorts. This showed me what I'm good at, but more importantly, where my weaknesses are. Having this knowledge has translated to my work by helping to concentrate and develop myself as a more well-rounded individual. It will surely translate to success beyond my internship here at Dwellworks as it instilled in me an understanding that all people are geared up differently and that understanding this is imperative to successful endeavors. Also, I have been able to now concentrate on my deficiencies and can recognize how to take the next step in my personal development.
Being here is so enjoyable that it's hard to classify it as "work," and that's what has made my experience at Dwellworks so special.
Thanks for reading!

Hello again Dwellworkers,
Well this Friday brings us to the final post to our intern blog this summer. As almost every has been, it was another busy week. Our relo team has been working together all week to cover for people who are out of the office. Order pipelines have also been steadily on the rise as the Brookfield business has picked up speed. Despite this heavy work load, our team has really done a great job working together and tackling load.
Next week on the 25th, the interns throughout Dwellworks will be presenting our summer internship videos, as well as giving speeches about our personal internship experience this summer. I am excited to be able to speak to my experience and share my point of view with management in the Warrensville office and throughout the company. HR will also being conducting a resume evaluation and interviewing skills presentation for all the interns that I think will be a helpful tool. It is great that Dwellworks makes this part of our internship and that they value enhancing us as best they can as we move on in our young careers.
I hope everyone’s summer experience was splendid as mine, and I wish everyone the best of luck.

I had a great internship experience at Dwellworks. Everything that I had done during the program has helped me become a better rounded person.
Order entry was my main task, this was a daily task for me; which taught me the importance of attention to detail, because If I miss-entered an order, this in turn would mess up the rest of the team’s ability to fulfill the order. One thing that I also noticed was how important every part of a supply chain is, even though I was not doing the most difficult job, it still affected the outcome of order.
Another duty that I had was to call appraisers to go on lists. This duty greatly improved my communication skills. In the beginning of the internship I was nervous each time that I had to make calls. Now, I have no problem calling appraisers.
Many projects that were given to me involved profile maintenance. Although updating profiles with Background checks, E&O insurance, and licenses got a bit repetitive. I was able to learn some management skills, because Tim had me assign responsibilities to the other interns for each project. I was also responsible for showing Tim Everly, John Roberts, and Intern Joe Yusko our process of requesting background checks and how we keep the background checks on file. This helped me improve my communication skills, because I had to explain the process in a way that made sense to them.
Another project that I enjoyed was the State CE project, which involved gathering information from each State to find out what requirements needed to be met to get our Continuing Education course approved. I enjoyed this project because we were not only working on a project that could potentially generate profit for Dwellworks, but could also change the Relocation appraisal industry.
I enjoyed this internship because I felt that I was treated like an employee rather than an intern. I never had to do meaningless tasks. I enjoyed that my work actually made at difference and also helped me improve on many skills that are needed to be successful.

Sitting at my desk at the end of my tenth week at Dwellworks, I can honestly say I am shocked with how much I have grown since day one. When I started out, my primary responsibilities were calling on lists of appraisers and setting up out-of-network appraisers in our system and requesting documentation to see if we could use them for our work.
A couple weeks later, I was moved from the relocation side to mortgage processing due to a fellow worker's injury. Instead of calling on lists of appraisers to see if they could inspect properties, I simply assign them to orders. This requires more analytical skills as I am in charge of making sure the appraiser used is the best one available based on criteria of turn-times, fees, and quality.
Aside from my primary tasks, I also communicated with appraisers in our network for updated information, such as insurance, w9 forms and background checks; and then updated their profiles. Taylor and I also worked on a continuing education project where we researched what every state needed us to do in order to provide a course on relocation appraisal in their territories.
Through all of these tasks, I have developed myself in multiple ways. Calling on lists and sending out emails have made me more confident in communicating. Having this coupled with MAGIC training, these skills have been refined to a level I don't think I could pick up in just a classroom. My analytical skills have also improved with the mortgage processing and state continuing education project. These have given me a closer attention to detail, since with mortgage processing a simple mistake in typing an appraiser's name could possibly cost the company a couple hundred dollars! Finally, working with the mortgage team and my fellow interns has given me a chance to be a better team player. Especially this last week, the mortgage team would be in a rut if we wouldn't have properly communicated and divided which orders everyone was in charge of. As interns, we worked on a charity event, the BPI road map, and our values video.

Hello again everyone,
Week 8 is finishing up and the summer seems to be flying by. I cannot believe we only have roughly a month and a half left interning with Dwellworks. This week has been another very busy one. With multiple members of our team out of the office, everyone has experienced a heavy work load. Our department has really pulled together as a team to work through everything. Also everyone keep Mike Crumbaker in your thoughts as he has had some medical issues this week.
BPI launched yesterday, which I think is an awesome opportunity for employees anywhere in the company to get involved and help grow not only themselves but Dwellworks as well. The interns played a role in the launch by unveiling the BPI innovation to implementation road maps. All of the teams did a great job on their posters, and hopefully they helped to aid BPI in some way.
Finally, the interns and I at Warrensville have been piecing together our intern presentation and video this week as well and I think it will come together nicely. That all for this week.

This week went by fast, like the rest. It is crazy how fast this internship has gone. Yesterday was an interesting day for me though, Intern Joe from the Downtown Cleveland office came to visit us to see what supply chain does here. I got to show Joe, John, and Tim our process for requesting and documenting background checks. Also I thought the BPI meeting was interesting. I feel that this is a good program that Dwellworks has implemented.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Hello and a happy FRIDAY the 13th!
As hectic as this week has been, I must say it’s gone by really fast! Aside from my typical mortgage order placement duties, this week marked the launch of BPI month, including the unveiling of the Roadmap that us interns have put our time and effort into (more on this below). We also did the final parts of the filming for our video, and have to now do the fun task of editing it all.
Our journal topic for this past week was to reflect on our BPI project:
As with many other projects we’ve done this summer, the BPI project was another way to get to know the other interns better. I feel that as a “class,” we have gotten close and have a very solid working relationship. With the project, it somewhat mirrored the process of Idea to Innovation. We started out with the task of creating the road map and threw around a couple of concepts and settled on a Mario Kart theme. We all worked on how we could make this project the best we could, and in the end I believe we had a great product!

Who would have thought that more work is more fun? Definitely not me. But this week proved me wrong as I had a hectic week of carrying out uploads and follow ups for the CSR team. In addition to these usual duties, I was also busy lending a hand to the supply chain team with updating files for appraisers with new insurance information. On top of all this, the other interns and I realized we needed to start hammering out the intern video for HR.
It was certainly a lot to process but it makes everyday more exciting when I'm able to jump from task to task. As it stands currently I have 222 updated insurance files in my inbox which need to be uploaded to the corresponding appraisers file. It's time consuming, but I don't mind the process, it's a definite departure from my normal routine which is an enjoyable challenge.
Lastly, today we had the BPI rollout meeting. Everyone's road maps looked awesome! Hearing about the how Dwellworks is always trying to improve and has started this initiative to help aid in that effort makes me really excited to work here!
Until next week!

Hi Everyone,
So it really does not feel like a Friday to me because of the holiday, but I'm not complaining. This week I primarily focused on a variety of different projects, which makes May days go by fast. I am working on updating appraiser profiles so that all of our data is correct. This past week Matt, Doug, Mike, and I all attended the Tour De Cure. Mike and I rode, it was a great experience. Our journal topic this week was about our experience, I will post below. Have a great weekend everyone!

Topic: Please reflect on the charitable event you took part in. Give details on planning, fundraising, and execution of the event. Why did you choose to embark on this?
Response: The charitable event that we took part in was Tour De Cure. This was a ride put on by the American Diabetes Association in order to raise money for research to find a cure, also to spread diabetes awareness. In order to ride in the event each rider was to raise $150. Our goal was for at least two of our interns to be able to ride in the event. We knew we were going to be busy with other work and internship projects, so we used fundraisers that did not require a big time commitment. Our first fundraiser was penny wars. The top two who won penny wars would ride in the event if we raised enough money. We put jars with each interns face in the lunch room, where everyone would pass by, we also sent out an email telling the reason for the fundraiser. This fundraiser raised around $60 dollars, and we did not have to do any work or spend any time. After penny wars were over, we knew which two interns were riding. Our second fundraiser was a simple sponsor sheet. We asked people to sponsor us for how many miles we were going to ride, or if they just wanted to make a donation. The office was very generous and with this second fundraiser we were able to raise a total of $450.50. We then all attended the event and made sure to take pictures to show the whole office, so they could see where the money they donated went. We chose to embark on this because we wanted to take on the challenge of fundraising in order to donate to a good cause. This event was one that our fellow intern was familiar with, he told us it was a good event and thought it was worthwhile to ride in. I thought the whole process from planning to execution was a success, and I am glad that we were able to donate all of the money to help others.
Happy Friday everyone,
I hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th of July and was able to enjoy the beautiful weather. I personally spent the majority of my 4th in a kiddy pool which I highly recommend. Anyways, back to Dwellworks related things. Week 7 definitely had a strange feeling to it with the day off in the middle of the week. Most of my time was spent on my Relo and Review responsibilities; however Doug and I have still been assisting the supply chain team as well. We have been helping Taylor and Mike with updating Errors and Omissions insurance for appraisers.
The BPI projects were also finished up this week and we had the opportunity to view pictures of all the interns’ projects; which were very well done. BPI will be launching on July 12th and I am excited to see what all Jack and Aleks have in store.
Finally, this past weekend marked the date of the service event that the interns and I at Cleveland East have been planning, Tour De Cure. We were able to raise around 450 dollars to donate to the American Diabetes Association. The event was a great team building exercise for the interns, and it was nice to spend some time with each other outside of the office. It was also rewarding to be a part of such an honorable event.
That’s all for this week guys,
Happy 4th

Good morning and a happy Friday to everyone!
I feel like I'm not the only one that feels that this week was a little weird due to the break in the middle of it, but I can't exactly complain about having a day off to celebrate the birthday of the greatest country in the world! U. S. A. Aside from my typical mortgage duties, this week has had a few other things in store. Yesterday, I sent out an email blast to get updated Errors and Omissions Insurance from our vast network of appraisers. My mailbox was soon flooded with the requested information, and a large chunk of my time was spent updating vendor's profiles.
Our Journal from last week was: "Please reflect on MAGIC training. What did you learn and how will you apply it moving forward? Why do you feel Dwellworks offers the training? "

Our Journal from last week was: "Please reflect on MAGIC training. What did you learn and how will you apply it moving forward? Why do you feel Dwellworks offers the training? "
One of the biggest things I learned from MAGIC training is that when dealing with clients, it’s not so much what you say; it is much more how you say it. Whether through telephone or face-to-face, your tone makes a huge impact on how what you’re saying is perceived. I will be sure to speak to customers in a more empathetic, instead of sympathetic, manner in the future.
MAGIC training is important because (as stated in a previous journal) customers are very important to our line of business. If they are dealt with in an incorrect matter, we could easily lose clients, which would make our business go under if not corrected. One problem about bad customer service is that people may not know that what they are doing is incorrect. Going through MAGIC gave me some time to sit back and see ways I could improve on my communications with clients and suppliers that I wouldn’t have regularly thought of.
What’s up everyone,
Week six is concluding and it was one of the more interesting and busy weeks of the summer so far. A large portion of our team (including my boss Mike) was out of the office this week visiting the new team in Arizona and getting the Brookfield operations up to speed. The remaining people in our office had to pull together and tackle the increased work load as a team to be effective. This week the interns also completed the BPI roadmap project, coming soon to an office near you. The project was a fun creative break from everyday responsibilities, and gave the interns time to getting to know each other better. Finally, this week Mike, Taylor, and I will be riding in Tour De Cure, the fund raising event we have been plan this summer. Doug Hayes will also be involved cheering on the team and taking pictures. The event starts at 10 this Saturday at CVCA in Cuyahoga Falls. All are welcome to come sport your Dwellworks riders. That all for now.

This week was very exciting for me. I thought it would drag on because I just got back from vacation, but I was working on a variety of different projects. All week we interns at Cleveland East were working on our BPI project. We did a Mario Cart Theme and it came out really good. Everyone in the office is curious about what we were making. I also had my MAGIC training yesterday which was a nice break from work, and I also enjoyed learning some customer service skills. Tomorrow Mike, Matt, Doug, and I will be going to the Tour De Cure. This is a fundraiser for diabetes that we all raised money to donate and ride in the race. Today we also had a journal topic about MAGIC which I have posted below. Have a good weekend everyone!

Topic: Please reflect on MAGIC training. What did you learn and how will you apply it moving forward? Why do you feel Dwellworks offers the training?
One of the biggest concepts that I took away from the MAGIC training was that what I am saying does not give as big as an impression as how I say it. This relates to me at Dwellworks because I am constantly in contact with appraisers. We learned that your tone and body language gives more of a message than the words you are saying. Since I only contact appraise by phone, this makes it more important that I have a good tone so that the appraisers have a good impression of me and the company I am calling on behalf of, Dwellworks.
I feel that Dwellworks offers the training because of the many benefits there is to having good customer service and being courteous to each customer. Some times Dwellworks cannot always offer the best price, but we make up for that in quality of work and great customer service. If the customers are happy then they will continue to accept work from us and make sure they are giving us the best quality work because they are treated well. Also, this program assures that every member of the Dwellworks team knows that one act of bad customer service could upset a customer enough to not ever want to work with us again. The training makes sure that all employees understand why we must have good customer service in order to thrive in the industry.
ther interns and myself have been crazy busy with the BPI project (can't wait to see everyone else's!) and organizing participation in the Tour de Cure event which is tomorrow.
We raised $450.50 to donate to the American Diabetes Association!
Everyone's welcome to come out tomorrow and support Matt, Mike, and Taylor who will be riding in the event! I'll be there taking pictures and cheering on the dudes. It starts at 10:00 at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (4687 Wyoga Lake Rd. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44224). (PHX interns: I expect to see you there)
My head was starting to spin with everything going on this week, but I love the excitement of working under pressure.
Side note: The 4th of July is next week! Hope everyone is going to have an awesome time celebrating America ('Murica)! I know I will, possibly even by seeing the film "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter."

Another busy week (as usual) here in Intern land at Dwellworks! It's hard to think that at the conclusion of today, I will be half-way done with my time here. When I wasn't busy processing mortgage orders, I had the chance to help out with my old task of calling on lists- using the skills I picked up through MAGIC of course!
It sings to the tune of "I'd like to teach the world to sing" and definitely lights up my desk a little bit.
Finally, we are in the final stages of our BPI project, and I must say, it is looking mighty fine! This was a great way for us interns to come together over a project and utilize our creativity skills. We also will be participating in the Cleveland "Tour De Cure" tomorrow to help fund diabetes research. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you all next week!

Hello Everyone!
This week has been busy, but more importantly really exciting! I started the week off carrying out my standard duties of uploading appraisals to AMS, sending them to clients, and following up on appraisers. However, the supply chain branch of Residential Services has been extremely busy lately, so my responsibilities were expanded to contacting appraisers to see if they would be available to take on some orders for us.
As with each of the past weeks, I've spent some time with my fellow interns coordinating fundraising efforts for Tour de Cure. The event is next Saturday and we're all excited to participate! A big shout out to Aisha Holt for all her help in the whole process of preparing for this event.
Besides that not too much really happened this week......oh yeah, except for MAGIC training!
It was great to get to meet our interns who work in downtown CLE and learn a little bit more about what goes on at headquarters. The location and office itself are both really cool. Driving into Downtown C-town for work made me realize how pumped I am to live and work in this area.
Besides all that cool stuff I also I learned a lot of great skills that I'll use every day at work and hopefully they'll translate to even better communication skills in life outside of the office.
Gotta run, have an awesome weekend!

Hello again everyone,
Week four is concluding and like every previous week, my internship experience has grown. This week me and fellow RS inter Doug have been assigned to aid the supply-chain and mortgage departs. We will be helping supply chain update their background checks and work with mortgage to place unassigned orders. I have enjoyed that we are continually given new responsibilities every week as we become more adept at the tasks we already have.
The high light of this week was definitely today as our office came together to celebrate John Langham's 70th birthday. I have had the opportunity to get to know John from working with him in review. He is a great guy and I was glad to be a part of a big day for him. The bond that everyone in our office shares on a personal level was definitely put on display today, as decorations were put up around the office and a delicious lunch was grilled in honor of John.
Finally, penny wars conclude at the end of business today. Current standings (first to last) are Taylor, Me, Mike, and Doug. However, Mike seems to have some strong supporters and could put on a final burst up in the rankings.
That’s all for now,
Matt

Hey everyone!Big News:
Dwellworks named one of the top places to work in Cleveland!!!!Quick Flashback:
About one year ago reading an article in the Plain Dealer about the best places to work in Cleveland. At the time, I was working a job I really disliked. I felt like my efforts meant nothing and every day was a struggle. When I read the article I remember wishing I was suddenly working for one of those companies who people seemed to genuinely like working for.Back to Today:
As of today, I'm officially working for one of those companies! I love it here, every day is different and I feel like my efforts are valued. I feel very lucky to get to work for Dwellworks because it's such a great work community to be a part of. Sorry to get really sentimental, but man, what a difference a year makes! My Top 10:
In light of the big news of Dwellworks being one of the top in Cleveland, here are 10 things that I've experienced that make me love working here.

This week went by fairly quickly due to the increased workload. We had a lot of orders come in this week, so I was always busy with something. I enjoy constantly switching from project to project; this seems to make my days go by faster. One project that we are working on is updating all of the appraisers background check. This is an interesting project because of how some of the appraisers react when you ask them to take a background check. I have been communicating with a lot of appraisers lately.
Also, today the talk of the office was that Dwellworks was rated in the top ten places to work in the Cleveland area. I thought this was pretty cool, and I would have to say that I agree. The local news paper will post the top ten next week. So I am excited to see where in the top ten we will place.
Tim, our manager, also had us write another journal entry today. I have posted it below if anyone is interested in reading the prompt and my response.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Topic: From an operations perspective, what are important factors to consider to ensure a successful project?
From recent experience of working on projects during the internship program I have found that there four main factors that lead to a successful project. One factor that I feel is key to a successful project in management. There needs to be one person that assigns responsibilities to each person working on the project, this insures that all the work necessary for the project is completed. A second factor in insuring a successful project is communication; this may be the most important factor. If communication is not clear then team members do know what in the project has been completed and what still needs to be worked on. Another factor to consider to ensure a successful project is the resources that are provided for the project. Before work is done on the project you have to know what resources you are going to have to complete the task at hand. If the necessary recourses are not provided for a project, then the team may have to find an alternate way to complete the project. The last factor that I believe is important in insuring a successful project is organization. Organization involves having a set plan as well as keeping all information and progress on the project noted. These four factors are vital to complete a project in the most efficient way.
Hello and a lovely Friday morning everyone,
I am writing to you today shocked about a few things. First, it’s hard to believe that at the conclusion of today, I will already be a third of the way done with my internship! These past five weeks have flown by, and I feel like I have made so many strides this past month.
Secondly, I can't believe how smooth of a transition this past week has been for me. Last week, the Cleveland East office received word that one of our workers had a "game-changing" injury in a game of basketball that would mean he would have to take a few weeks off. On Monday, I found out that I would be helping to fill his shoes a bit, resulting in me moving from relo to mortgage.
This week has been spent getting adjusted to the new process. Although it took a little to get used to, I feel like I know what I'm doing (while still picking up a few things everyday, of course). I must give credit to the fantastic mortgage team for helping make this transition smooth!
We also had a few things to celebrate today. One of our very own celebrated his 70th birthday!

On top of that, Dwellworks has been rated one of the Top Work Places in Cleveland for 2012! In the words of Rob, "Dwellworks is Pretty Sweet"
Our Journal topic last week was "Who is more important: The client or supplier? Why?"
Until next time,
In the great “circle of business” a company needs both a way to get a product to sell and clients to buy them to stay afloat. That being said, I believe that the more important of the two is the client. Without clients to purchase a product, the company will only spend money on the supplier’s goods. Simply put, a company cannot survive if they only incur costs and don’t produce any revenue. Customer service is always an important aspect in any line of business.
On the other hand, if the suppliers were gotten rid of, a business wouldn’t have anything to sell to clients, something that also would make them go under. While some expenses would remain in this case, it would be less than that of just buying products that wouldn’t sell to anyone. All in all, these overhead costs would remain, which is why businesses usually go bankrupt because they can’t pay the suppliers when clientele purchases are low.

Hello!
Another great week working at Dwellworks is almost done and it's certainly been an eventful one. Most of my days were fairly similar. I spent the mornings working on uploading appraisal reports to eValu and updating the information for those reports in AMS. Occasionally I would send completed files to our clients. After I got through the majority of these tasks, I started doing "tickles" which is basically contacting appraisers and checking in on when we can expect their reports. Aside from these standard duties, some out of the ordinary responsibilities began playing a role in my daily routine.
Last week my fellow interns and I at Cleveland-East began planning a charity project we can be involved in. We chose Tour de Cure which is a bike ride which raises awareness and funds for research for diabetes. After deciding we would be involved in this, we knew we had to do a lot of fundraising (each rider must raise at least $150 dollars to participate in the ride!) We decided that probably only two of us will be able to ride in the race, so to decide who gets to ride; we began PENNY WARS, which will also raise money for the cause!

If you're unfamiliar with Penny Wars, it's pretty simple. How it works is there's a jar for the each competitors (in this case the interns) and people from the office throw change into the jars. Pennies in a person’s jar counts as positive money in their account, but everything else subtracts from their score (So the person who raises the most money doesn't necessarily win the penny war!). We decided that interns with the top two scores will get to ride in the race.
The penny war started Monday; today I looked in my jar and saw this:
I'm a little upset about my week 1 finish, but there are still 2 more weeks for me to catch up. It's only a matter of time until the picture of myself I posted on my jar works it’s magic and gets me into the lead. Also, I've been giving my co-workers nutty bars and ho-hos in hopes to gain some investors.
Penny wars is only one part of our fundraising efforts for Tour de Cure, I'll keep you posted in the weeks to come about our other efforts.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Everyone,
Well I'm glad that it is Friday again, but this week seemed to go by fast due to new projects that we have been working on. Mike and I were assigned a project to contact every State and ask about their requirements to enroll a course that Dwellworks is creating in each State. The project is interesting and we have learned a lot about the requirements of each State. We will continue to work on this project and hopefully or information will help get the course up and running. We are also having a fund raiser to try and raiser money to donate to Tour De Cure. The fundraiser is called Penny wars. Unfortunately we have not raised as much as we have wanted, but there is still time. We have other fundraisers planned also. We are hoping to raise $300.00; this would make it possible for two of us interns to ride in the Tour De Cure. Each week we are also given a topic to respond to by our manager. This was this week’s topic and my response:

Topic: Who is more important? The client or the supplier?
I believe that both the client and the supplier are important to Dwellworks and each play separate roles in creating revenue for our company. We have a mutual interdependence between both our clients and our suppliers. Our client pays us and in turn we perform the services that they request. We then pay our supplier to perform a service that we have requested of them. If we burn any bridges between clients or suppliers then it will affect Dwellworks negatively. If we lose or mistreat clients then we lose work and revenue. If we lose or mistreat suppliers then we have less people to perform services for, our suppliers may also do less quality work if they are mistreated. If we get less quality work from our suppliers then this may affect the relationship between Dwellworks and our clients. If our clients cannot trust that we will provide them with quality service then they will do business elsewhere. At the end of the day we get paid by our clients, but we would not have business with our clients unless our suppliers provided us with the service that they do. I believe that both the client and supplier are equally important and both of their interests need to be taken into consideration when making business decisions.
This is all I have to report for this week. Everyone have a good weekend.

For my committee choice, I figured that since I try to be a fun person, the fun committee would be a great choice for me. One of the most important parts of a job is that a person is enjoying themselves and having at least some sort of fun. I plan to contribute to the already fun environment of Dwellworks in many ways. Provided we don't have clients visiting, I want to try to have some sort of "theme day" every couple weeks. This can range from sports jerseys, Hawaiian shirts (my favorite); hillbilly- the list is endless. I think that simple fun things like this can spice up the work environment and contribute to a more enjoyable work place!
Hi Everyone,
The committee that I have picked to join and help with is the wellness committee. I chose this committee because I like to work out and try to eat healthy. I have found that I will go weeks with eating really healthy but then I end up eating junk food. So I thought that this committee might help me maintain a healthier diet. I have always been interested with nutrition, wellness, and staying in shape so I think that this is a good committee choice for me. I look forward to help creating events and programs that will also aid other Dwellworks employees with getting more physical activity as well as eating better. I hope to get as many people involved so that everyone can be healthier as beach season approaches.

It’s been an exciting week at Dwellworks! The majority of the time was spent fine tuning my skills in the various areas needed. I’ve had the chance to communicate with clients a lot through requesting documents and setting up appraisals, which has really benefitted my communication abilities. I’m still working on getting settled into the world of 9-5 work, and I’m really happy I can do it in such a friendly environment. I’ll officially have a desk to call my own by day’s end, also!

Hello everyone,
today I finalized my committee choice which I am sure everyone is so anxious to hear about. I chose to join the sustainability committee. The topic has always appealed to me strongly, and was a field that I almost decided to major in. Thus it will be a cool experience to be a part of a group dedicated to sustainability. I haven't really brain stormed many ideas for the committee yet, however I feel the committee could have a lot of potential and am excited to be a part of it. The topic is such a relevant, current, and crucial topic in this day and age, so I think it is great that Dwellworks is stressing it through their internship program.

As I alluded to in my most recent blog, I was faced with quite the dilemma when choosing which committee I would be a part of.
Fun? Philanthropy? What would I choose?
I was highly recruited by each (neither) committee.
I couldn't bear the thought of disappointing anyone. So I chose both.Philanthropy
People helping people. What else is better? Not much, and that's why I decided to be a part of this committee. My main goal for my involvement with the philanthropy committee is obviously world peace. I recognize this is largely regarded as improbable, so I also have some other ideas cooking. For one, my roommate is trying to get together a team for a bike ride called "Tour de Cure" which benefits diabetes research so it is my hope to get Dwellworks involved in some way with that event. Overall, I just hope to be able offer some creative ideas that will in turn benefit some great people and charities.
Fun
When I was offered this internship, I was a bit nervous about working in an office setting. At least until I saw that fun was one of the core values of Dwellworks. When I saw that I knew I was going in the right direction.
My largest goal in life is to help as many people as possible have as much fun as possible while still having fun myself. So naturally, the fun committee seemed like a good fit for me. Dwellworks already has an extremely enjoyable work environment, so I hope to be able to contribute to this with new ideas for team bonding that will make the office even more exciting. I don't want to give all my ideas away for you guys to steal, but I think one idea I would like to pursue is a Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa in July party.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Matthew Dowdell and I am one of the Relocation Appraisal Services interns with Dwellworks this summer. I just completed my junior year at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea OH, majoring in marketing and minoring in management. Baldwin Wallace became my new home after I complete my college search over three years ago. The institution offers a staff of exceptional professors and advisors, who are experts in their field and always willing to lend a hand. The student body is relatively small, with roughly 3000 students living on campus. However, the culture at Baldwin Wallace is surprisingly lively despite its size, boasting over a hundred student organizations. I was drawn to BW by the location, reputation, and most of all the warm, friendly demeanor of the faculty and student body.
As I progressed through my education at BW, I found an interest and passion in business, and decide to focus my studies on marketing. Learning the process of construing a company’s products and value to consumers and other businesses, product development and lifecycle, and many other facets of the subject captured my interest. The business to business side of marketing appeals to me the strongest, and is an area I hope to one day be employed in. In regards to Dwellworks, I plan to learn as much as I can from this internship. Although it may not be major specific, I am ecstatic to be gaining my first real world business experience, especially with a company that is currently undergoing such a great deal of growth. The experience will teach and enhance basic business skills (communication, computer skills, networking etc...) that will be valuable too my future employment; where ever that may be. It will also be great to learn about Dwellworks operations, markets, and business strategy; while also providing as much of my help to the company as possible.
On my own time I enjoy staying busy. I thrive on being social, and enjoy spending as much time as possible with my large network of friends from high school and college. My friendships along with family relationships are the most important aspects of my life, and it is important to me to be high involved with them. My whole life has been spent participating in sports, and I have tried my best to continue that in college. I am not a varsity athlete at BW, but I am a part of intramural soccer, basketball, and volleyball. I also play with the varsity soccer team in men’s leagues outside BW, and pick up games as much as possible. Staying involved on campus has become very important to me as well, and I am highly involved in Students in Free Enterprise, a community service organization geared towards business individuals. I stay involved with multiple projects, and I am in a leadership position for the group as well.

Sup dudes,
I like a lot of different stuff but being outside is one of my favorite things. I also enjoy wearing tank tops. I go to school, wrestle, and live it up at John Carroll University and I’m actually graduating Sunday.
I'm a big fan of America. Recently, I was awarded the George Washington Award by The Carroll News. This is a veeeerrry prestigious award given to the person who most exemplifies America in his/her graduating class.
I’m not sure why I chose JCU, but it was a great choice. It’s become a second home to me and that’s a big reason for why I’m returning there next fall for grad school in the school counseling program. My undergrad major was History, but I started off in business. I chose History because every class caught my interest and I liked hearing stories from the past and learning how we got to where we’re at as a society today.
Although being a business major wasn’t for me, I’m excited to give the business world a second try with this internship. I hope to learn how to be a more professional and business minded person. I often start many tasks at once and rarely see them all to completion; it is my hope that this internship will help me to become a more efficient worker which will enable me to take my ideas and projects (in and out of the office) to completion.
If you’re looking to delve deeper into the mind of Doug Hayes and learn more about me, follow me on twitter @HugDayes.

Hi my name is Taylor Bennett and I am a supply chain Intern. I am going to be a sophomore at Miami University (OH) and I chose this school because of the strong business school and the fit seemed right for me. My major is supply chain management, I chose this major because of my interest in the overall flow of a business and its services/products. From this internship I would like to grasp a better understanding of what a supply chain manger does on a routine basis. Also I would like to improve my business and communication skills. In my free time I like to hang out with friends and stay active by working out and running. I look forward to being in contact with everyone and hope everyone has a great internship experience.

Hello, my name is Mike Spettel, and I am a rising junior at John Carroll University. I chose John Carroll because of their strong business programs (specifically accounting), and because I come from a small school/town and I liked the similar environment. I am an accounting major, and I chose this because I enjoy working with numbers and the problem solving aspect of it.
I am hoping to gain technical experience from this internship that will benefit me in the future, as well as gain insight into the world of work.
In my free time, I enjoy going downtown to experience all the sights and sounds it has to offer. I am also trying to get back in shape and have recently been trying to go for a run and lift more often.
